PSCA Releases 52nd Annual Survey of Profit Sharing and 401(k) Plans
New survey shows plan sponsors and participants maintained their commitment to 401(k) plans
The Profit Sharing/401k Council of America (PSCA) released the results of its 52nd Annual Survey of Profit Sharing and 401(k) Plans on September 28, 2009. The annual survey from PSCA provides the most up-to-date information available on current practices and trends in profit sharing and 401(k) plans.

IRS Announces 2010 Contribution Limits
The Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration have issued the cost of living increases for qualified retirement plans for 2010. Please note that the 401(k) elective deferral limit (i.e., 402(g)) and the catch-up contribution limit remain unchanged for 2010, as will other limits.

Reminder: A Plan Sponsor Guide to Annual Participant Notice Requirements
In the past several years, the annual participant notice requirements that plan sponsors need to keep track of have increased at a frantic pace due to two pieces of legislation: The Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA) and the Qualified Default Investment Alternative (QDIA) regulations issued in 2007. In order to assist you with your fiduciary and administrative responsibilities, we offer a list of annual notices that may need to be provided.

IRS Issues Guidance on 2009 Required Minimum Distribution Waiver
On September 24, 2009, the Internal Revenue Service provided additional guidance for retirement plan administrators, plan participants and retirees regarding recent legislation affecting required minimum distributions (RMD). Previously, the Worker, Retiree, and Employer Recovery Act of 2008 waived required minimum distributions for 2009 from certain retirement plans. Notice 2009-82 provides relief for participants who have already received 2009 RMDs this year.
